“Where there’s a wall there’s a way – to show off a gorgeous garden”
When these Melbourne homeowners renovated recently it involved extending a wall through an existing garden space. This left them with a large plain brick wall in the middle of their gorgeous garden. Worse they looked right at that blank outdoor wall space from a living area of their home!
Functional walls often have little to offer the landscape design cause.
However if you have a wall that faces your garden, you can take advantage of that blank space and turn it into something quite special by hanging an oversized feature like a large outdoor mirror.
Mirrors work well because they pick up reflections and accentuate the positive: like detail in distant garden beds, light and shade in overhanging trees and the colour in plants.
An outdoor mirror brings life, light and interest to the space around it.
Dressing the wall and paving beneath it was all that was needed to define the area as an outdoor room. This created the perfect space to set up a table for outdoor entertaining. All that was left to do was set the table, light the barbeque and its lights…camera…action.
